V6 How-to get high-bit rate MP3 as VfW audio codec

Hello. I want to create a DIVX movie with a high-rate MP3 sound (192 kbps). However, I see only up to 56 kbps encoding options in the audio codecs in the Video for Windows (.avi) audio tab. How do I get all the bitrates there? I have the MP3 plug-in for Sony Sound Forge 7, and I can also encode to 320 kbps MP3 in Vegas, if I extract only the sound track. BUT I can't get the up to 320 kbps options to show in Video for Windows (.AVI) encoding audio tab. What should I do?

The same problem is also in VirtualDub. :-(

The problem is with the interface to the DivX encoder and has nothing to do with either Vegas or VirtualDub. The DivX programmers chose to make 56Kbps the highest setting available in their interface. Go talk to them and request a change.

I think the problem is in the audio codec, not in the video codec. It is irrelevant what video codec I choose (even XviD or so), but the audio codec list still does not have the MP3 codec. The question is how to get the audio codec (MP3) also to show up in the VfW menu.

I would guess that the same audio codec that allows me to encode MP3 audio files would allow me to encode MP3 audio to AVI files. Am I mistaken here?

It appears to me when encoding to DivX that Vegas hands over the entire process, both audio and video, to whatever DivX software you have installed. It looks like you're entirely at the mercy of DivX then, and whatever audio encoding Vegas might offer itself is unavailable.
