You did render an AVI file.

An AVI is just a container, it can hold video encoded with one of any number of different codecs. In this case, the "HDV 1080-60i intermediate" template generates an AVI file using the Cineform codec.

To answer your specific question; Using the ""HDV 1080-60i intermediate" template is no different than if you had manually rendered a "custom" AVI file using the Cineform codec with the appropriate image size and frame rate.

Since the Help file recommends rendering using the Cineform template, I had been wondering if there was some advantage versus just picking rendering as a VFW avi.... Sounds like there is no real advantage; I was afraid I was missing something...
