V6b staying open in task mgr after quitting

bakerja wrote on 8/26/2005, 5:59 PM
I am having a problem with Vegas6b not releasing after closing the program. If you look in processes in task manager, vegas60.exe is still utilizing memory. Depending on how many times I open and closed, it could be several...eating up a ton of ram. I cannot "end process" either. I have to reboot windows xp pro to get it to release.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
JAB

Still no ideas?

No solutions but I can confirm that this has happend to me as well. The bigger and more intense the project, the greater the likely hood that it'll lurk in Task Manager after I've closed it bogging down my system.

Yes, this is a bug. I get it frequently, on big projects. Seems related to .NET Framework 1.01 to me. They seem to hang together.

Same here. If you Search these Forums you will see that this has been discussed and is a confirmed bug. You may even find a solution (but I doubt it).

Seems like most everybody does a computer ReStart to get it out of their Task Manager/Memory. I will often also get Pan/Crop & Video FX errors when trying to do my ReStart. Seems like Vegas just doesn't want to play nice for some reason.

Query whether this is related to Vegas 6's tendency (as with my system) to freeze partway through a long render, i.e of a 90-minute project.

Has anyone heard of a Sony response to this problem? It is beginning to annoy me terribly. I've been bragging on the stability of Vegas since version 3 but with version 6 am questioning if the upgrade was a good idea. I have just uninstalled media manager to see if maybe that is playing a part.

Any comments are encouraged!!

Thanks,
JAB

No problems here.

JAB, if you don't want to run the media manager you don't need to uninstall it, just turn it off in the preferences.

It was turned off in prefs. I thought I would experiment to see if a component of MM was hanging around. That was one of the major differences between v5 and v6 so I thought it worth uninstalling.

Thanks,
