V6d Slow Rendering again?

Is it just me or did we take a step back in rendering time with 6d?

It took almost 30 hours to render .avi of a 2 camera (ultimate s2) show that is a little over 60 minutes. Not too many plugs attached, just levels and color correction at the media pool. RAM preview was set to 256, but 30 hours seems a bit extreme.

Any comments?

Thanks,
JAB

Render times seem the same for me. Maybe check to see if you lost your usual settings while installing the latest version.

6.0d looks fine to me. Media Manager a little better, but I am dissapointed that's all we got with this upgrade + a few basic bug fixes.

I recently played with the latest Adobe Premiere for a few weeks. Decided not worth the money for my case. But it is lots of fun to use and compare to Vegas. If Vegas continues to fall behind in modern features and interesing updates... I will get bored soon.

Peter, that was an update only. You have paid nothing in addition for it. You got the H.264 Encoder from Mainconcept. Free of charge.

I simply think: you cannot compare a version jump from AP Pro 1.5 to 2.0 - where people pay some hundred dollars - with a update from V6c to V6d.

You will have to compare AP Pro2 with the upcoming Vegas7, what will be more appropriate.

I'm updating my render times page, a few more tests to do. Basically, I'm seeing a slight increase in render times below 128 MB Dynamic RAM with 2 threads, but 128 MB and above is essentially the same.

I included a new short test for WMV output, and it's interesting in the grand scheme of things.

I'm currently testing 1 Thread right now, so as soon as they are all done and my web page is updated, I'll post back.

Edited: from 0 threads to 1 thread!

Wolfgang, I agree with you. But pestering Sony to dedicate some serious dev time to 7.0 features can only help our cause! ;-)
