V7 Preview on Ext Monitor not sticky

Hi,
Just upgraded to V7. I have the Video Preview Device set up as the Windows Secondary Display. In V6, the "Preview on External Monitor" (clicking on the monitor icon in the internal preview window) would persist between sessions of V6.

However, in V7, I have to click on the Monitor icon during each V7 session to force the preview on to the secondary display. I have tried disabling the "Display frames in Video Preview during Playback", but I still have to click the minitor icon each sesion.

What simple setting am I missing, or is this a regression from V6?

Thank, in advance.

I found the following statement in the Readme file -
------------
When using an external video monitor, you need to enable external-monitor preview each time you start Vegas. This change was made to prevent the possibility of hiding the main Vegas window behind the secondary display when monitors are improperly configured.
--------------------

It seems Sony can provide an option to configure the behavior. Sony could have opted for a way to detect an improperly configured secondary display (whatever that means)!!

Oh well....

I must be missing something here. Just a click to activate the external monitor seems pretty easy to me. I have other windows moved to that monitor (which Vegas 7 remembers), so I like the simple click to activate/deactive preview on ext mon.

Well I suppose our TeamMadison have to make a decision for the default on opening Vegas:

#1 - External Monitor ON

or

#2 - External Monitor OFF

I wonder what would happen if the External Monitor wasn't/hadn't been connected and or switched on and the Vegas User Base were confronted #1, as being the default? My guess would be an avalanche of questions as to why #1 was the default?

I'm with Serena. No big deal for me to hit the icon. And as I explained, it would be a far bigger deal if "others" were getting an ALWAYS on ExtMon default and no ExtMon was/had been connected/switched/plug in at the time of powering up Vegas - yeah?

Grazie,
Points are well taken.

My point is that any time functionality is changed between versions, the software should **STRIVE** to give the option to revert to a behaviour that users of existing versions were used to. If this route was investigated and rejected for code bloat, performace hit or a variety of other reasons, that's fine.

A click here, and click there, it all adds up to more clicks....

Again - I understand the issue but just wish that Sony had not forced it upon the user community.
