v7 sub frame editing?

Holding down the Shift key seems to have lost it's touch with this version of Vegas. Am I missing something (besides the ability to sync audio)?

start the event drag then press shift,

or turn off snapping (and Quantize to frames if on)

Quantize was the culprit. Don't recall having to set that in v5. Thanks!
