V8 Crashing with Mackie Control

bwarshaw wrote on 9/30/2007, 8:58 AM
Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help with this problem:

I have the Mackie Control Universal, which has been working fine with Vegas 7e. I just upgraded to Vegas Pro 8, and am now having Vegas crashes whenever I hold down the MCU FF or REW buttons when the timeline is playing. This happens fairly consistently and I can't remember it ever happening with v7.

Any suggestions? It's very frustrating trying to edit without this capability.

We identified this and it will be addressed in an update to Vegas 8.

There is no workaround, other than not to use FF/REW.

No, I don't know when the update will be released.

I don't know if this will help, but it doesn't seem particular to the MCU. It happens as well when I use the ShuttlePro V2 (with the Sony supplied .pref file) and turn and hold the shuttle ring.

I'm going to finish up my current project in V8 without using FF/REW and then go back to 7.0e until a fix is released (hopefully soon).

Thanks for getting back to me with a response on tthe weekend Peter - it's always good to get a response even when the news might not be the best.

Same thing happens with the Bella keyboard shuttle functions, so I've reverted to JKL.

I dont know if I should add this here, but....
I'm using the tascam 1884 with MCU emulation. but I'm not see these problems... however what I do see in V8 as oppsoed to V7 , when mixing in 5.1 , is that the faders on the control surface controling the front, rear, only control the left faders on the Vegas 8 GUI. yes.... I locked them and unlocked them., no change..I will report this to support as well.

Correct. It is not unique to the MCU. There is a problem related to any reverse playback, especially when looping is active on the time line.

hello Peter,
I am very happy to see that after acid pro6, you've implemented possibility to use multiple mcu units. my tascam us-2400 and vegas is full functional now. i would like to see in next update "arming" of pans and volumes to use controler in automation mode as in trim only now.
and some other thing: let's say that i open 4 audio tracks, if external control is turned on i have (on us-2400) 4 faders moved to 0db and 5th is master. could it be possible to dissable master fader ('couse i already have dedicated master fader) espatially when i add some buses, master fader stuck between track/channel and bus/es fader and that could be messy.

regards,
gordan
