V8- FX1 and video

Ok I have a question. I have done some video work the other day, which gave me about 30 minutes of video. It was in DV format with the picture profile 2. Now I come home hook the fire wire to the camera go to capture, and begin the capture process. Things seem to go along all right when I began to see dropped frames and this just continues on. After thirty min. pass I got some really strange stuff nothing would transfer that I just up loaded from the camera to V8, and my computer slows to a crawl. I go to Documents and to my surprise I see new files for what i just downloaded, and there are 14,000 files each file is 500kb in size. I delete all this and begin the search to why this is happening.

I take my other camera a little hand held Panasonic hook it up grab a tape from a different project everything from thecamera, to capture to V8 goes like it is supposed to do. So I think ok I re hook up my Fx1 to the fire wire put a diffrent tape in from another project everything works like it is supposed to.

I think to myself ok not the fire wire , not my camera, must be the tape. I then hook my Fx1 to the tv run this tape looks nice I watch completly all I shot in the PP2 and looks good. Go back to the computer hook it back up start the capture capture begins memory skyrockets and capture will not capture the video. Everything works just fine, execpt this one tape. I cannot figure this one out.

If anyone out there has any creative ideas to why this is going on I will give you a big thank you for any explanation. So thanks in advance. PS I did not change anything on the capture prefrences. It is the same as it came from the factory and have no problems at all with capture even no problem with capturing HDV

I had that happen (using HDLink, I think) but for the life of me I can't remember the cause.

Just a thought - you weren't using the HDV capture app to capture DV?

No I did not use the HDV capture, but I did try it just in case it would work. Just a strange deal.

VidCap has a problem. If you start the capture on a blank piece of tape it locks onto whatever the device is sending down the cable. It's possible this might be messing with this capture although I guess now you've got it captured you're in no hurry to mess around anymore. If you want to, try making certain you don't hit the Record button until you can see good video in VidCaps preview window.
