V8 or 64bit Vegas?

Can anyone shed some light on the 64bit version of Vegas that is supposed to be coming out? Is this an entirely seperate version from the new V8 or will it be an upgrade? I want to upgrade to 8 but not if i will have to pay again to get the 64bit version i read about.

Just curious and i did read back a ways to find this topic but saw nothing about it in the forums.

THere was a demo'd version with AMD etc. As for a released version - at best it seems, there could be a Beta this side of Xmas. It will come, whether as v8 or not - there does not seem to be anything official to support that

Someone may have more info though.

Well, plans can change when striving for bug free software releases. But this was the official press release.
http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/news/ShowRelease.asp?ReleaseID=660&CatID=0

And the sentence just before the bold "About AMD Solutions" says:
Sony Creative Software plans to release a 64-bit version of Vegas software by the end of 2007.

... suggesting a 2007 full release of the 64bit Vegas.

Just talked to someone at Sony.

He confirmed that a 64bit version will infact be released but could not say if it was still scheduled for the end of the year. He did say that it will basically be a 64 bit version of Pro8 to run only on 64bit systems with Vista64. Don't know if it will run on XP64 as well though.

He also was not sure if it would be a seperate (pay for) upgrade or just an optional version for those who are upgrading to Pro8.

I would imagine the release date would somewhat coincide with AMD's launch of it's new procs.

Hopefully thaey make up their minds soon,i don't want to be paying two upgrade fees inside of 5 months.
