It is exactly seven year ago, today, I purchased very expensive, for me, Cayman Graphics Tilter with multilayered animation facilities.
When I moved from Video Machine to Vegas 4, I was really pleased when Cayman supplied plug-in for Vegas.
Again I was really amazed that Cayman Tilter worked in V8. As this titler is not supported by Cayman, it would be good if I can move over to V8 titler.
Now I have been sitting on a titler which can be animated, in multi layers, using key frames but I have never felt the need to animate - apart from occassional use of built in transitions and Debug mode's plug-in-pac.
For test, I took a simple title I had used in previous project and tried to replicate it in V8 titler.
A png of the test is

Now this is my personal way of doing titles ( for wedding in this instance) so your likes or dislikes do not come in to the discussion.
What I found, comparing to a very old titler,
It does not allow me to pick colours of screen.
So I copied the colour values from Cayman to V8.
< top R=238, G=235, B=238.
Bottom R=233, G=174, B203>
Cayman sets the font values in pixel heights and width.
<Height=35 pixels.
I set the font size V8 titler so that the size was the same
Font size=1.55
The edge was set to black with a depth of 4 pixels and blur of 8 pixels.
In V8 titler, stroke produces the edging. This was I set to width of 7.12. It could have done with blur control but there is n't one.
Some of you experts may think that I should be looking at the fantasic motion caabilities. I probably will. But for day-to-day working,
I would love to
* pick colours of screen
**get a better clour gradient
***blur the edges.
It does not show in this png, but there is cross colour breathing because of the sharp transients, caused by sharp (un blurred) edging.
On a positive note, I love the multicam. Edward has done a wonderful job with Excalibur, using scripting, but this really is the business.
All I want is an icon for ctl+shit+D. (My shuttle pro broke few weeks ago)
Or I could just replace my shuttle pro.
