V9 and MC AVC?

Anyone having any luck with this?

Rendering straight from the project to 2 pass VBR @ 4/2Mbps 788x576 25fps and V9 passes out in under 1 second.
Rendered instead to SD MXF 50bps dropped that into a new project and encoding to MC AVC, same result, within a second that "we're sorry" dialog box pops up.
Took same MXF file into V8.0b and it encodes to the same codec, same settings no problem.
This is the first really serious problem I've had with V9, it can't be a memory problem, it happens too quickly.

In my experience Bob (and not that I have a lot with pal and mxf), but if Vegas pukes out immediately without even making an attempt then there is a wrong render setting somewhere. Have they change the default settings in some fashion that you're not aware of?
