Hi,
I installed the 32-bit version of V9 on winxp home, it's requiring me to "register with administrator privileges", I tried right clicking on it and choosing advanced/run with different credentials, but it's still not letting me run it -- any ideas?
The popup error box says "Registration requires administor privileges. Please run Vegas Pro 9.0 from an administrator account to complete registration".
For security, I run winxp from a user account (that should have admin. privileges from what I recall), vs the administrator login ... how can I bypass this (or elevate my username's privilege level to admin)? I've never had this happen w/prior versions of Vegas, nor my adobe nor any other software I've ever installed... what to do?

Checking, my user Is enabled as an administrator rights level, so it's a problem w/Vegas... here's a fix:

Sony Creative Software applications must be installed to an administrator profile on your computer in order to function properly. You may verify that the software is installed to a user account that has administrator rights by accessing the Control Panel in Windows and double clicking on User Accounts. Each account on your system will be listed here, showing the level of access for each account.
If you installed the software to a user account with full administrator privileges, and are still receiving this error, it is likely that the permissions did not get written into the registry correctly during the installation process. To resolve this issue, click on Start > Run and enter REGEDIT.
Within the Registry go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\, find the Sony Media Software folder (for older Sonic Foundry applications you would find the Sonic Foundry folder instead).
Right click on the folder and choose Permissions.
Make sure that Administrators, System, and any user account you log in with are all listed at the top. When you highlight each one they should have the Full Control and Read checkboxes turned on. If not, check each of those. Click Apply and Ok.
Do the same for the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Sony Media Software\ folder, and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Sony Creative Software\ folder.
The registry folders our software will create entries in are as follows:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sonic Foundry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Media Software
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Creative Software
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sonic Foundry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Media Software
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Creative Software
UPDATE:
The FIX is you have to run regedit and manually navigate to HKLM / Software/Sony Creative folder, and then right click on Vegas Pro / 9 and permission the user.
thx,
k
