I own 2 of the Canopus ADVC-100 boxes. They work fine on my other computers. My brand new Vaio PCG-GRT170 will sometimes recognize it immediately. Other times it will not detect it no matter how many times I plug/unplug-reboot-power up/power down etc. etc.... All the things you would normally do to wake up the system and connections. All of a sudden without any real obvious tie-in to the problem I will hear the windows xp chime that it is recognized and I am all set from then on. When I reboot the next day it might see it right away and it might not. Sometimes I boot up...walk away and 20 minutes later I will hear the detection chime without ever touching the setup at all. On rare occasions it is seen immediately on boot up. It is not connected to a hub and the cable seems to be OK. I am not using a hub and no other devices are using 1394. My external drive is on the USB2 port. Trying the reconnect to device in Vegas doesn't help either. I know it is not really a Vegas problem but I am at a loss and can't operate not knowing at what tempermental point in the day my setup will start to work. Has anyone had similar issues at all? Any info that could point me in the right direction would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
