So what does a broke a** video guy get his gf for V-Day ? A video of course. Not " copyright " friendly, but it was for the girlfriend, so shoot me. =)
Hey Ray, I have a quick question regarding the clip, "The Fairy Tree" at your website. Did you shoot the interviews that tight or did you crop them in Vegas? I ask because I find that if I crop much at all, the image starts getting too soft comparitively. I'm hoping you (or any one else here) may have a secret : )
TIA,
Randy
Eh all, I put up a new version with the intro/outro from the Austin Music Network, this is how my girlfriend actually saw it for the first time as it was broadcast live. Pretty funny stuff. It was also just listed as " Video Of The Week " by Internet Video Magazine, kinda cool.
Thanks again for all the appreciation, again, it really means a lot. Something about the opinions of peers that makes it more special.
As for " The Fairy Tree ", I shot it that tight. I have noticed quite a few shows do " punch in " with pan/crop or something similar, and yea, it does blur some. Seems like this is becoming fairly acceptable though, they did it a lot on the " This Is The 60's, 70's, 80's " series on E! ( it was something like that ), and on just about any of the reality shows that have home video, like " Ya Gotta See This ! ".
I'm on the slowest connection available over here in Bangkok. You should consider making all the vids available for download to hard drive. I just can't get it to work properly with all that buffering and waiting and stuttering. So, I have not been able to see the valentine or any other vid from your site.

That's mah maaan. Now I can resume download if i get cut off (which happens a lot)! Thank you. I'll tell you what I think later (much later since download is slow). :)

Okay Ray, I've now downloaded and watched all the vids.
1. Finger gun - Fun fun fun. Great feel to the actual "trigger pull".
2. AMN station ID - Top quality and great idea! Very good editing here.
3. Brandon/Austin - The laid back point and shoot feel works well. I get the feeling you are good friends with the guys. The babes alone is worth a visit to Austin!
4. Dancers exposed - Here i get the feeling you've splashed out on better camera and lighting gear? Again, excellent editing. I would give a finger to be part of that production and maybe half a finger to see the finished show.
5. Megan Melara/Fool in love - I love that you go from day to night! And the glow in some clips is beautiful. BUT, for my own taste, the slow crossfades is a little too much. I'd try a differnt version with straighth cuts and see how that feels.
6. Patrice Pike/Angels - Very good live product and editing. If I were Patrice I'd buy you dinner and then try to get you into bed. How did you manage to squeeze that good pictures out of the poor lighting conditions? How many cameras were used?
7. Trepanation/Sanctify - They need to change the intro to the song because at first I found it boring but the longer I watched the better it got. The video also gets better during the song. The editing is again great. This is a perfect example of a lower budget music vid. Good enough for any TV-channel.
8. Valentines Day - Great presenter. Now this piece REALLY show what great things you can do with Vegas and PS. Fantastic work! Such things are usually made with the really expensive tools. Your knowledge is a goldmine for any client of yours.
So, one day I hope we can get together for a project. There's really no way that it can go wrong. :)
Best/Tommy.
