What plug in would you / have you purchased from this site. Which would you stay away from? Im doing music videos and short plays.
I dont have any other plug ins for video.
Any and all suggestions are appreciated.
really unless you're doing stuff with more than 4 cams (in which case you would look into Infinity Cam), there is only one *script* plugin that you REALLY "must" buy, Ultimate S 3.0. It has most of the plugins offered by VASST all in one, and has some spectacular time saving tools. Another plugin from there that is pretty cool is the "Edge Detective" Direct X filter they does some pretty cool stuff given the right conditions.
As far as filters etc go... I HIGHLY suggest the Velvet Matter Radiance Plug-Ins because they have a good lightrays filter that looks pretty decent and some nice soft contrast looks. The NewBlue FX have some pretty cool stuff that allow you to be just creative w/o having to work at it very hard and come in very handy in a creative block situation.
There are also GrafPaks and ReelPaks. For the work you're doing GrafPaks might not be so worthwhile, but the Reelpaks would probably be quite usefull.
I've used all the plugins and filters, and they all have their places, when i worked at the VASST booth this year I blew people away with how quicky I was able to work with Sony Vegas and Ultimate S 3.0. Just ask Glenn Chan, he saw the stunned look on peoples faces when I showed them the speed that I could do things with US3 :).
Ultimate S 3
Spend some time learning all that this tool can do. It is very powerful and covers a lot of ground.
InfinitiCam
Only if you use more than 4 cams. If you do or ever will, it's invaluable
To me those are the must-haves. Radiance and NewBlue I do like, but with NB especially you'll want to audition each of them, as the 4 different modules do different things. I've always heard good things about SpiceMaster and related plugs, but I haven't ever used them.
In fairness, I have not try U3 from VASST, but I question if it will be helpful in music videos. Radiance could be, but if you are being paid for producing music videos, I would consider looking at Boris filters and using Red 4.1+. Not as "econ" as U3 but Red helps vegas look better with its filters(plus its works with AE). But VASST's U3 is better than U2 from everyone posting and is a good tool from everyone feedback.
U3 has many tools that help in basic editing. It is not Boris Red. But Boris Red is not Ultimate S3. They are vastly, make that vasstly different tools.
Ultimate S basically opens up the power of Vegas through scripting. It also relies on Izotope's audio plugins. Any of the tasks you do in Ultimate you could do in Vegas or Izotope if you had the time and even more importantly the skill. So there are effects in Ultimate, but they it should not be viewed as an FX package. Similiarly, nothing in Boris Red is going to help you sync 4 cameras or automatically place DVD markers or automate slide shows. Ulitmate S should be viewed more of as a timesaver.
Now should you use it to make music videos. Well if you think being able to edit to the beat of a song is important with markers placed on beats automatically. Well, you may want to check it out.
Depending on budget, the tools I believe folks should look at in order of cost/importance, lowest cost (semi least-important but probably most used) first:
Mike Crash tools
New Blue FX
Edge Detective
Pixelan Spicemaster/CreativEase
Radiance
Panopticum
Boris Red
