VASST Training DVD's

Gang,

After a supposed quick jaunt out to the desert to meet the legendary Jeffrey Fisher in person yesterday, I ended up behind the camera as we shot his VASST Sound Forge video. I will be the first to step up and say how dumb I am about audio, especially after watching Jeffrey navigate though Sound Forge like it was his third hand. Number one, this is going to be a stellar DVD! I found myself wanting to go home (it was after midnight when I got home) and pick up this app and really want to learn it. For an audio beginner, I felt a bit more comfortable about what I was capable of doing in Sound Forge. For the advanced user, plenty of stuff that went over my head... hours and hours, that I'm sure will be valuable to them.

I was fortunate to see clips from Rudy Sarzo's "Acid for Non-linear Editors", Rich Harrington's "Photoshop CS: Essentials for Digital Video, and raw footage fro the Cool 3d and DVD Workshop projects. All in which made me feel a bit small in the world of media design, yet made me realize how cool these apps really are once a basic understanding has been obtained.

Sundance has raised the bar on trainining and I have to say that both Spot and Mannie have burned the midnight oil on making sure these projects are up to standard.

Anyway, was a fun day and I'm anxiously looking forward to the storm of products coming from VASST!

Mike

what do you mean by hours and hours ?

I mean there are hours of content. Not sure what the finished length will be but you won't be disapointed.

so its more than one dvd? you can only put maybe 2 hours on one disc.

I'm not sure what they have in mind for finished lenght. That will be based on the final edit. Aside from normal setups / flubs, I don't see much that can be cut.

as for 2 hours on one disc, you're assuming DVD-5, not DVD-9...

Jazzvalve, the DVDs are expected to be roughly 6.5 hours in length. Since there is not a tremendous amount of movement, we can easily fit 3.5 hours on a DVD9, so this set will be two DVD 9 disks. There is also project media on the disk for users/viewers to play with.
Mike, it was really great having you out here! Was definitely a crazy day with all the trainers flying in, out, and in between.
Can't wait to share this with the public!
