Vasst Ultimate S 4.1 help

jkerry wrote on 2/4/2011, 12:07 PM
Upto a couple of days ago, I had no problems with Vasst's UltimateS using the Quad-Cam program. Now when ever I try to use the Process Cameras I get this window which says the following:

"The following error has been encountered:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

It allowed me to make all the cross overs from both videos but will not let me process the files.

Also the Details are listed as follows:

Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7600.0
Version 10.0 (Build 364) 64-bit
UltimateS Pro 4 Version: 4.1.4.15946
Message: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Does anyone have any suggestions on getting this fixed. I have 3 more projects which I have to get finished soon.

Thanks, Jeff Kerry

Best advice I can share is to send a support note to VASST. They are extremely responsive to problems.

Sent it twice but no response

Those kinds of errors are almost impossible to track down without stepping through the source (the code) while it's breaking.

Essentially, it tried to do something with something...but the something wasn't there.

It's usually a case of not checking for the object's existence before attempting to use it. Not the best programming practice, but it happens all the time...you put in handlers for all the possible errors you can think of, but one manages to slip through, anyway.

Jkerry, where did you send it to at vasst? you should be sending tech support requests to their ultimatesupport(at)vasst(dot)com

(obvious changes to be made with at and dot)

Playing around with the trial version a few minutes ago and got the same error.

Interesting thing is, Quad Cam is supposed to be using the same engine as Infiniticam. I tried it with Infiniticam and it works fine with the same everything.

Looks like a bug in Quad cam.

I now mainly use the built in Multicamera in Vegas because it is now better than Infiniticam and Quad cam. And I have been using Infiniticam for quite some time.

Jeff, I'm not sure why you would say this on Feb 4th. Perhaps you forgot that we corresponded several times on Jan 31st when you send the first email and then later that same night you sent us the "quad.veg" file and we confirmed that it was a bug introduced in the latest build and that we would get you a fix.

On 2/5/2001 we delivered the fix for you to test. This update 4.1.5 to US Pro will be made publicly available after some more testing as there is still an issue with the camera pad tool.

Johnny,

Yes I did forget, I guess just being fustrated not getting it to work.

But to let everyone know, Vasst did come through and got the problem corrected and I want to thank them for all the help that they did in finding the problem.

I have a similar error with Vegas Pro 10.c 64 bit and UltimateS Pro 4.1.4. Can I get the update to 4.1.5?

[Update on Sunday -- John @ VASST support helped me out today. That is some quality service and is appreciated.]
