Just a quick shout out to how much improvement tweeking your VCache settings
can do for you NLE application. I found the most Vegas Video wanted was
52,912 Kb. But I only have 128MB rdram on my ME system, so I can't use that
much.
Setting to *** maxfilecache=32768*** lets my full screen preview play
perfect DV clips, smoother RT transition previews, programs load and respond
quicker and I still have enough memory for rendering projects.
Don't set min. to lower than 128, or you'll have to fix it via safemode.
When I add more memory, I'll raise the Vcache to 65,536
98 and ME users can set Vcache with MSCOFIG typed into the RUN option on start
menu. Not sure on W2K. Under Sys.inf folder. Click on the Vcache + button
then right click line and select edit. Click on end of file before typeing,
then backspace over numbers. If you screw up, copy the wording from the other
line and make it max or min as needed. See * * above for example.
Cheers,
