vcr capture

Is it possible to go from vcr to sony trv 310 to computer for capture. I may be going about this all wrong but I need to capture video from vhs tape to computer. I have been recording them on my camcorder and then to computer. Thanks

Your camcorder may have a "passthrough" option that would eliminate the need for recording it on the camcorder first. You'd be able to capture directly on the computer while the tape in the VCR plays. Consult the manual for your camcorder to find out if it has that option and what menu it's under.

Otherwise, what you're doing now works.

You might want to take a look at this. I have been transfering my VHS tapes direct from my VCR to my computer using a real nice device made by Grass Valley called Canopus ADVC110.
