Veags - Not responding

tgrwebmaster wrote on 9/1/2010, 8:53 AM
9.0E (build 1146) 64 bit. This program has been running fine for months. I am using the same computer and recording device/settings that have been in use for months as well.

When Vegas is launched it works normally until I add to the time line. As soon as video is added it gives a "not responding" message in the bar. My CPU usage goes up to 50% or so and stays there until I kill the program. Memory usage is low. Maybe 2 gigs.

Any suggestions as to why this has randomly started happening?

What is your video source, codec, resolution, etc?

It is the infamous AVCHD 1280 x 720. I have tried several different files and it seems to be happening across the board. I know that AVCHD is an issue but, I have been successfully working with it for several months now with larger files than I am currently trying to work with.

**Update** I converted a 41 second file to a friendly 1280 x 720 wmv11 file and it crashes just the same. I really don't think it has anything to do with the source media.

**Update 2** I reinstalled 9.0e and it crashes just the same. Have lots of work to do......Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What have you installed lately?
Can you do a system restore to a previous date?

I have not installed anything lately. I will attempt a system restore.

** Update 3 ** Did a system restore as suggested to a date when I am sure Vegas was working. Vegas still crashes when I attempt to add video to the timeline. The audio show up right away. The video is a blank white then it gives the "not responding" message.

CPU usage way up, "Not Responding"...

Is your media on a separate disk drive?
Is your C: drive getting full?

Have you checked that your quick time hasn't been updated to a newer version? There are many threds on this..You need the slightly older version. If it's a very long file, there is also a thred on 'disabling the 2 gig limit' or something to that effect.... search the forum on "2 gig maximum memory cap" ..just a guess...
