vector animation similar to masks???

Hi gang,
I'm interested in doing some simple cartoonish animation. I messed around with event masks on solid-color generated media today and got this which seems to be about right:

It seems a little cludgey, though, and I was wondering if there is maybe a better way to go about this? I'm using Vegas 7, btw. Open to any plug-ins or software and would like more flexibility to create objects rather than a bunch of masks.

Flash, or something like it, would probably be easier to use.

Just a thought, but it looks like you have animated the 2 things seperately. While I'm not exactly sure of the type of effect you're going for, it may be best to lock (group, nest, etc) the objects together and then do a 3D motion track on the parent. You could then rotate the parent on the Y-axis. It may be easier but might not be what you are trying to achieve..

Edit

Scratch that, the background object will have to rotate relative to the foreground object so either way, they will both end up being animated seperately.

There are hundreds of animation packages. It depends on what style you want to achieve and how much you want to spend.

Going entirely by your example, have a look at www.koolmoves.com

Kool Moves looked real nice.

It is it only for the Web or can it be used in Vegas?
