This may be a dumb question but even so so people know.
Does it work the same way as it has before that if you open a veg in 7.0 and save it it will not reopen in 6.0?
reason I ask is thats the way it was from 5-6 but I noticed that it changes all the veg icons to a new 7 style.
Different issue, but I noticed that when I opened a V6 HDV project in V7, the project settings were changed. The project opened up claiming it was an NTSC DV project. It seemed like it was using the default from preferences instead of the actual project settings.
I closed V7 and loaded the same project in V6. I went to a point in the timeline (using V6) and V6 crashed with an error (exception in mcplug.dll). Reopening V6 was fine, until I went to that point in the timeline again (where it got the same crash, every time).
I rebooted the machine, fired up V6 again, and no more crashes.
So it appears that we must be very careful if running V6 and V7 in the same session.
Same as in the past....once you open a veg in the new version, immediately save it as a new name, such as appending it with "V7" or such.
You cannot go backwards with veg files. V4 won't open V5, etc.
In my case I didn't actually save it in V7, all I did was open it. Had the above described problems after closing V7 and subsequently opening same project in V6. But a reboot cleared the problems.
Maybe it was a fluke, something to be treated like a UFO sighting. But for sure I'll follow the advice you guys have given here.
