Me thinks it's soon. Just before a new release SCS offer great deals on the existing software. That would explain why all of a sudden we have so many new users on this forum. I'm pretty sure you have to register a legal version of Vegas before you are allowed on the forums.

I heard they're doing away with GUI's, screens, keyboard, and mouse, and they're going to a 3D V.R. environment requiring you to get into a headset, goggles, and suit like in lawnmower man ( giant spinning thing not included ).

:P

Dave

Clearly this is the future of editing in Vegas :P

I heard they broke the DNA marker code and will model Vegas 10 over the results. If you want a tree you select tree and the species you want then vegas 10 will create a tree. Since buildings have no DNA do not know how that will be incorporated.

It'll be a multistep process. Select Human and then Architect...etc, etc.

Sounds like the evolution of the art.

hahaha lol. I think this is going to be great. I can only imagine all the new options Vegas is going to have with this new suit and thingy. Where will you be able to buy the spin thing? Does it read your mind or do you still have to use a mouse? so many ups... Plus it will be more intimidating for people to disturb me when editing. haha

peace,

ps. does anyone know anything real about V10? My trial on 9 expires in 5 days. *sigh so I have to upgrade soon.. but don't want to buy 9 a few weeks before 10 comes out. help....

As has been said here in the past, those who do know can't say due to the NDA and those who don't know love to speculate :-)
What has happened in the past is that if you bought a previous version less than one month before the release of a new version, you get the new version for free.
Since we don't know if V10 Pro will be released at IBC next month (the date of the last 2 or 3 releases), all we can say is pay your money and take your chances.

i c e,
I would say if you have a paid project resting on continuing to use V9, buy it. Otherwise, hopefully you have an earlier version of Vegas to hold you over. Especially since -- if you were around to remember the 9.0 initial release debacle -- you do not want to be in the middle of a project when upgrading to a new version of Vegas. Unless you like being an unpaid beta tester. Buy V10 at the earliest around 10d or 10e.

CC? I haven't read all this thread, but: " . . . you have an earlier version of Vegas to hold you over." if you meant for our colleague here to open a VP9 project in say VP8 or earlier, you can't. I can open earlier Vegas version projects in later Sony Vegas versions, yes, I can do that.

Apologies if I interpreted your statement incorrectly.

Grazie,
Good catch. It was late in the evening and I was just sputtering out thoughts. You're exactly right... i c e can't construct V9 projects and then revert back to an earlier version.

Never could.
