Vegas 10 reads interlaced DV as progressive

I had been testing Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0b with both SD and HD video. I upgraded to 10.0 and found that when I rendered SD video (previously saved 9.0b and new projects) the resulting file was jittery. Specifically, if you went frame by frame in a panning scene, you would see the frame move right, then back left a bit, then right, then back left, etc. The quality is unbearable. I'm rendering as Sony AVC - Memory Stick SD NTSC - 6256 Kbps.

Before I rendered anything in 10.0, I noticed that my .dv files were showing in the Project Explorer as Field Order = None (progressive scan), when I know for sure that this is interlaced video. To make sure I wasn't going crazy, I installed 9.0b on another computer and verified that it does show as Field Order = Lower field first.

I've tried changing the Project Properties to force it to Field Order: Lower (Template: NTSC DV (720x480, 29.970 fps)) as well as every other Project Property and Render setting that I could try. But nothing works with 10.0.

Anyone else experiencing this or have a workaround? I thought about using a 3rd party program to convert everything to progressive but I really don't want to lose my interlacing and I have about 200 GB of SD video left to edit and don't want to waste the time/space.

Sorry, I am unable to duplicate your issue in Vegas 10.

Using DV-AVI NTSC Widescreen, original source from three different cameras, and the Media Properties report correctly, which is LFF.
Also, when I "Match Media Properties" in the Project Properties, they report correctly, which is LFF.

If you'll upload a short clip that is misreporting for you, I'll be glad to check it on my machine.

Thanks for trying, musicvid. But the good news is, I was able to find a workaround. If I went into the Project Media window and changed the Properties of each clip to Field Order=Lower Field First, the project rendered correctly.

Unfortunately, I could not find a way to do this in mass. If I selected more than one clip, it would only change the last clip that I selected. I also tried using the Paste Event Attributes in the timeline but that did not copy the Field Order.

For now, I guess I'll just have to spend a lot of time clicking before I start a new render unless someone knows a better way.

For informational purposes, the footage was shot on a Panasonic PV-GS65 and captured in iMovie '09.

Vegas and iMovie have a history of not playing well together.
For capturing DV, Scenalyzer and Vegas Vidcap work well.
Yes, you will have to change the properties clip-by-clip in Project Media.
