Vegas 11 711 Never stops rendering

Has anyone else experienced this bug? Rendering proceeds normally for a time, then actual progress, as measured by the monitor, stops while render time continues. Time remaining goes to zero and the render will never complete. Cancelling will also never complete. I have to kill the process in Task Manager.

I first encountered this after updating to 711 and the latest AMD drivers for a GPU accelerated Radeon card. However, rolling back the driver update did not change the behavior. The 711 build fixes several bugs that have been well, bugging me, so I hate to roll it back but may have to.

This is occurring on Win 8 RTM x64.

Yes several times and not using the very latest build. It will always happen if the computer goes into sleep mode during render.

Interesting. It's not, but I am remote accessing another computer - I should test that. Interestingly it does not repro on Vegas 12 although it blue-screened until I discovered that AMD has just dropped yet another driver which fixed that...so far. I've got through a couple of 20 minute renders at least.

I would not like that to be the way an upgrade decision is made, not sure there are any features I need in it yet.

Thanks for the response.

Repro'd the problem on Vegas 12. The hint about screen saver clued me in - if I remote (TS) into another machine while rendering there is a video context switch which horks Vegas. It's not a problem the other way: I can remote into a machine that is rendering without a problem.

+1

this has happened to me with the screensaver/power-settings many times at work.

to stop it, whenever batching from Vegas i use a free app called MouseJiggler.

The first thing you do when installing Windows is disable the sleep mode and screensaver if your editing.

Same here, but sleep or screensaver has nothing to do with it for me. It just stops at either 1% or 11% (depending on the whether I'm rendering AVI or MP4).

PNY GTX-560 video card with the latest driver. 64bit Windows 7 running Vegas 11 701

Been happening to me with Vegas 11 with my GTX560. Blazes until it loses the CUDA connection it seems. I can see the GPU drops from %60 usage down to 0 and the render jams while outputting to Main Concept .mp4. No screen saver or power settings selected. Any ideas..?

Try other GPU drivers. I had the same issue. As I remember changing drivers to some older version fixed the problem. I own GTX 570 and use 310.70 vesrion drivers.

I think it is a voltage issue. Been messing with my overclock and she may need some more juice. Check out my voltage numbers. TThey are a little raised but not much. All boards are different I guess but you may want to bump up just about everything.
It just finished super fast where it used to crash that "GPU Usage" meter to 0. STOKED!
Good luck! ~J
