Vegas 11 and 12 and issues with GPU rendering

I have been having issues with the different video cards I have been using with Vegas Pro. It says that Vegas has GPU rendering but the cards I have tried have failed to work properly. Has anyone had any positive experience with GPU rendering and if so, which card?

My main rendering is making HDV 1080i 60 into mpeg2 and rendering the same HDV to bluray at the HDV 1080i 60 at this point until I get an AVCHD cam.

There is also a 2560mb or 2.5GB version for 80$ more than the 1280 or 1.25GB version. How negligible is that?
