Vegas 11: Spontaneously muting video tracks

Okay guys, this is driving me crazy. I have this bizarre problem in my Vegas project where some of my video tracks spontaneously muting and mute/unmute has no effect on this behavior. In addition, all new video tracks I add are muted. Solo is not enabled on any track so it's not that. If I copy an unmuted track and paste, I can get the unmuted track.

Can ANYONE tell me what's going on here? Am I the first to experience this?

Is it possible you are inadvertently hitting the mute (circle with a slash) or solo (exclamation point) in the track header? Sometimes when I have a lot of tracks and I want to solo one or more tracks to zero in on something, I get discombobulated on which tracks are muted versus on solo.

Also if your tracks are grouped, then mute or solo will affect all tracks in that group.

Certainly strange though if Vegas is somehow turning these on/off behind the curtain!

Kimberly

I have had this occur in Vegas 11 on two occasions:
1. Bad sector on a failing RAID disc from which I was accessing AVCHD clips with audio. (Loss of certain audio tracks only occurred on timeline playback, not rendering.)
2. Using a USB 3.0 drive simultaneously with an eSATA drive. (This caused many audio headaches including random muting of tracks during both playback and render, and was solved when I disconnected one or the other.)

I have this issue currently also, and am using a smattering of attached drives.
Thanks to this info, I plan to drag my audio effects and music to the local drive.
VERY unpredictable and I always assumed this preceeded an upcoming crash, saved, and restarted just in case. :)
