Vegas 11 - unresponsive trimmer

I'm trying 11 on a project for the first time, everything seems okay but...

When dropping mp3 files into the trimmer about every 4th file or so causes Vegas to become unresponsive for about 10seconds. shows (not responding)

Peaks are showing up immediately so it's not drawing peaks.

It is very similar to how Vegas 10 acts when there is a bad drive connected. My Vegas 10 is working great, so I don't think it's a bad drive.

I have also unchecked close media and close audio ports in preferences, but that doesn't help.

Any suggestions?

Are they already imported into the Project Media list, or are you fetching them from a "My Computer" window and dropping them in? If you do the later your O/S releases the resources that Vegas reserved and it takes a few seconds to reclaim them depending on your computer power.

Examples of things that might cause that to happen include touching the speaker icon in the system tray, the clock, a browser session. In sort, anything outside of Vegas will cause that to happen.

There used to be something you could select in preferences that would minimize the lag time, but it also decrease the number of resources the program could have when using it.

These are files that are not in Project Media.

I just find it strange that it's not every file, it's just sort of random. :(
