Vegas 12 recording audio

Just trying to record some audio through my Alesis io2 usb box. First of all in the audio preferences vegas doesnt see it. Secondly it is working but the level is way too high and with athe inputs turned down to ero it is still distorting. I dont remember having this problem with earlier versions of vegas

Nothing's changed with the way Vegas accepts audio.
So its configuration and settings, which you haven't shared yet.

The problem may be that

"This product is class compliant; it does not require drivers"

With out specific ASIO drivers you have to use the Mapper or Wave Classic drivers, class compliant means that it may have a generic name, and not the device name,

You might try ASIOForAll that will make this device appear as an ASIO device. The product docs and download page provide a link to this software.

The gain problem sounds like a hardware setting issue, but make sure the mic/line setting is correct for your connected input source.
