Vegas 14 crashing on save

Kit-As-Was wrote on 8/21/2017, 1:04 AM

I return to using Vegas 14 (build 270) after one month and suddenly it is crashing on save. It gives me the following error message:

An error has occurred while saving one or more files. There is no license to use this software.

This is of course nonsense as the program won't launch until it has been registered. This is really annoying. What is causing this? Leads me to suspect that Vegas 14 requires periodic internet connection to continue working despite assurances that it doesn't. Anyone else experienced this? Thanks.

Mine is now crashing every time I go to save my project and close it out. This started a few weeks ago and I was hoping it was just an issue with a hard drive but that isn't the case. I am connected to the internet so it isn't that. Any help would be appreciated.

What GPU and driver are you using? If it's Nvidia, you could try a different driver.

I've been using the same NVidia driver for months (v382.05) so why should this be a problem now? It feels like the product has deactivated itself because I haven't used it for a month but it starts as it should. Just discovered I can't render anything either.

My question was directed at @bryan-wilson as his error messages imply a GPU problem.

OK. Any thoughts as to why my Vegas is acting up? I really hope Vegas 15 has a more robust and friendly activation process.

It's happened again! I last used Vegas around a month ago and was forced to connect it to the internet to allow it to reactivate itself. Stop using it for a month and now it is back to crashing on save because it is telling me I don't have a license. This really looks like Vegas needs to phone home periodically in order to work. Anyone else seeing this? To test you need to have Vegas offline and not use it for three weeks.
