So I have used Vegas for years... Started with Sony version 4 or 5 I think it was a long long time ago... So I'm currently using Vegas Pro Suite 14 which I upgraded to last year and let me tell you it was NOT the best upgrade! So I have an AMD Ryzen CPU 8 core 16 logical, with 32gb of ram and 20tb of storage on several SSD and conventional drives running an NVidia GTX960...
So here's the issue, since the upgrade my Vegas crashes randomly while editing it's a problem but that that big a deal (as I am an 40 year IT pro and know shit happens) but when I try and render my project 9 times out of 10 Vegas crashes! WTF??
So I do some research and find several tidbits of info and as the professional tech I am pull all the pieces together and come up with several options to try and correct this crashing issue.. Well low and behold I now have a working much more reliable Vegas! Wooo Whooo! But wait! The way I fixed the crashing issue was by DOWN-GRADING my Vegas! Yep that's right... I said DOWN-GRADE!!
So here's the scoop... I had to turn off multi core support, run Vegas in compatibility mode, and turn off graphic hardware acceleration! WTF??? All the components that I put into the box that I built just for Video Production DON'T WORK with Vegas!
So WHAT'S UP WITH THAT VEGAS CREATIVE?? As much as I love Vegas I'm thinking I need to look for a more stable Video editing platform which takes full advantage of my HIGH END Hardware! Hopefully someone from Vegas Creative Engineering will see this and come up with a stable working version before selling US END USERS Beta, or should I say Alpha versions of your software!! We, your customers are tired of being USERS for your beta testing! Come on Vegas be CREATIVE and make something that WORKS!!
For all my fellow Vegas users you might find this link useful!
Good Luck!
