Vegas 18 rendered files and preview flickers and goes black

I installed Vegas 18 on a fresh install of Windows 10, AMD 1800x and Quadra P4000 and updated the video drivers. When I add video from a Canon 80D, MOV 1080p/30fps files, the preview window in the upper right has problems. During editing or rendering, the preview flickers and turns black. Worse, the rendered file also has large blank regions. I've not made any changes to settings. Rendering to MAGIX AVC/Internet 1080p. Both CPU and GPU rendering has the same problem. The individual files play fine in VLC and the Windows player. Vegas 15 on the same machine, before rebuilding the computer, did not have these problems.

Also, every time I start Vegas, there's an ad for YouTube training. On a 4k monitor with 150% scaling, the OK button is only two pixels tall or so, it's nearly off the screen and hard to click.

Vegas 15 on the same machine, before rebuilding the computer, did not have these problems. Let me know if there is anything that I can to solve the preview and rendering problem.

Thank you

I found Options->Preferences->File I/O, enabled legacy processing turned the hardware decoder off. Seems to solve the problem. Rendering seems ~30% faster as well.
