Vegas 2 Boris only uncompressed avi whi whi whine

what could the reason be, that I always have to convert all clips to uncompressed avi from Vegas to Boris RED or FX…?
WHEN WORKING WITH TIME OR MOTION FX, the mat keys and chokers and other fx work ok not great but OK

If I Have AVCHD on vegas timeline and use Boris fx = nada, jerky, weird rendering almost like the clip has pulldown
I am only working in 720p 25 frames, even if the clip is mpeg = same problem

so I first encode the clip to avi uncompressed with Vegas, render to track or Tmpeg4 and then I can work between the two

just wondering why , maybe could save some time if I knew why

Vegas settings 720p .PAR 1:1 25 Frames….Boris import settings match host or 720p same as Vegas

Thanks guys
Rory

can boris input QT PNG? I've found it to be a little better then uncompressed AVI & it's a fraction of the size.

There is no reason why you should need to render out if your Boris FX project properties match the Vegas Pro project properties. I have only seen problems when my project properties in Boris didn't match Vegas. Obviously for motion you need to render out. Since Boris takes a snapshot of the Vegas preview window, make sure you set your preview to Best/Full before opening Boris as an plug-in. Perhaps this is the problem?

As far as rendering, I use CineForm files whenever I need to render out to another application like stand-alone Boris RED or After Effects. You need to buy CineForm Neo Scene to be able to read the CineForm files in these other applications but it is well worth the price to me.

Not tried Vegas -> Cineform -> Boris yet, so not sure if the following is on-target, but as far as I understand it, if all you want to do is read a Cineform file (in any application), then simply install the free NeoPlayer as it brings in a read-only codec (i.e. just a "dec"). Never tried this with NeoScene files though.
