Vegas 21 Pro Post installation

Greetings: I just purchased the Vegas 21 Pro Post Classic collection. I have downloaded 20 g-Byte of installers, installation and audio files. I have carefully documented my progress through 32 install segments (from the e-mail) and I believe that I am ready to install.

However, I do not see any mapping of installation order in the instructions. Is the order of the install implied by the e-mail sequence? This is not obvious as this package appears to have some items whose purpose is not obvious. For example: Sound Forge Pro 17 Suite, Sound Forge Pro 17, and Sound Forge Pro 16 are all included in this load each with their own serial numbers. We have Acid Pro 11 Suite and Acid Pro 11, each with their own serial numbers. Additionally there is Independence Pro Plus library along with 2 separate copies of Independence Pro Standard - all 3 of these have unique serial numbers.

These apparent anomalies suggest to me that there should be available some sort of precedence chart, Installation sequence document, something for those of us who have not been in the Vegas trenches are are attempting to re-enter this particular area of computing.

Help Please. I can follow instructions, if I am able to see them.

I only know some necessary order:

VE (Vegas Effects) and VI (Vegas Image) must be installed after Vegas Pro. Because they need to find the Vegas installation directory and write some connectors in it.

Sound Forge Pro should be installed before Vegas Pro. Because when installing Vegas Pro, Vegas will auto look for Sound Forge as the first external audio editor of Vegas.

The other installers are in no obvious order.

In the case of Sound Forge Pro 17 Suite and Acid Pro 11 Suite, these are the basic Sound Forge Pro 17 and Acid Pro 11 programs but with extra features/programs/add-ons. You'll be able to see the difference between the basic and Suite versions by exploring their product webpages under the Music menu item on MAGIX's website at https://www.magix.com/us/.

As only one version of the same version numbered program can be installed on the one computer at the same time, you'll need to decide which version (the basic or Suite version) you want to install. If you try to install both the basic and Suite versions on the same computer, you should expect the second install to fail with the warning that the program (basic Sound Forge or Acid) is already installed. If you install the Suite version then you'll have the basic program anyway.

While there is no problem with having different versions of Sound Forge Pro on the same computer at the same time (i.e. Sound Forge Pro 16 and 17), SFP17 is SFP16 with updated features so there may be no need to have both 16 and 17 installed unless there is a specific need to do so.

Acid Pro is a standalone program so it doesn't really matter when it is installed in relation to the other programs.

The Independence library likely comes as an extra with Acid Pro and I would install it after installing Acid Pro. As you have 2 serial numbers for Acid Pro 11 plus the suite, I would think that you've got 2 Independence serial numbers, one to go with each Acid Pro serial number. Independence is a plug-in pack and to my knowledge there is only one version of Independence so you have 2 licences for the same plugin pack.

Thank-you to Ian-mLMC and Dexcon for your input. Much appreciated.

I will tell you what I am guessing will be a plan. Please let me know if you see any difficulties.

Firstly, I will install the sound app's: Sound Forge Pro 17 Suite, Acid Pro 11 Suite, & Steinberg's Spectral Layers Pro 10. Hopefully they will link up like they used to.

Secondly, the sound add-ons: Samplitude Pro X8 Suite, coreFX Suite, colorFX suite, Magix essentialFX Suite, Magix Analogue Modelling Suite Plus, Magix VariVerb II, Magix Vandal, Magix Vintage Effects Suite, Independence Pro Standard #1 for S.F., Independence Pro Standard #2 for Acid, Independence Pro Plus Library (shared between S.F & Acid, I hope), iZotope RX 10 Elements, iZotope Ozone 11 Elements, Celemony Melodyne 5 essential, Convology XT complete, Zynaptiq Wormhole, and Brainworx Ultimate Bundle (for Acid).

I still have some questions of which plug-ins are meant for S.F. & which are for Acid.

Thirdly, I will install the Vegas Pro Post 21.

Fourthly: I will install the Video add-ons: Boris FX Primatte Studio 2021.5, Boris FX Continuum Particles Unit, Boris FX Continuum Image Restoration, and Boris FX Continuum Film Style Unit.

I tried to activate the ActionVFX Action Pack but they declared my coupon code as invalid. I will have to find someone to help with that issue.

In all, a whole lot of pieces to install without a roadmap or precedence list. (Hopefully the Magix folks read this last line.)

Wish me luck,

Cliff
