Notable changes/fixes in 3.0c:

An a/v sychronization bug in MPEG encodes has been fixed.

A bug that caused print-to-tape operations to fail when markers with no text were present has been fixed.

In Vegas 3.0a and 3.0b, choosing None from the Time stretch / pitch shift Method drop-down list in the Audio Event Properties dialog had no effect on time-stretched audio events. This bug has been resolved.

Notable changes/fixes from 3.0b

A Vegas project saved in version 3.0b will not open in any previous version of Vegas. Project structure had to be changed to address bugs and there was no way to avoid this project versioning incompatibility.

Text command markers now embed captions in QuickTime streaming files for viewing in the QuickTime player.

RealMedia 9 video codecs are now available on the Advanced Video tab in the Custom Settings dialog. Standard templates continue to use RealMedia version 8 video codecs.

A bug that caused some color curves settings to display inaccurrate color values has been corrected.

Autonamed CD extraction now correctly saves files to the Recorded Files folder.

Regions and markers and regions created in .w64 files using Sound Forge 6 now correctly display in the Vegas trimmer window.

PAL Widescreen DV renders now use correctly auto-switching format flag.

A bug that prevented some resampled events from resampling when using the best render quality has been fixed.

A bug that caused play/pause in the Trimmer to revert to timeline focus has been corrected.

A bug that caused Vegas to crash during project loading when transitions were missing has been corrected.

A bug that caused disk-at-once CDs to cause problems with some third-party verification software has been corrected.

The Main Concept MPEG-2 DVD templates now have an average bitrate of 6,000,000.

Numerous Video Capture changes have also been implemented. Please see your Video Capture readme.

A bug that caused normalize to fail on looped clips has been corrected.
Vegas will use SoundForge 6.0 as its default audio editor if SoundForge 6.0 is installed on the system.

A bug that caused the Main Concept plug-in to crash when using K6 processors has been corrected.

Here's an audio bug:

Using Steinberg Magneto, (maybe any other plugin also). Insert into the Master bus, or any other created bus.
Right click on the insert button and select "bypass all". It not only bypasses the plugin, but resets all the settings of the plugin. Make adjustments, and now do an "Enable all". Again it resets everything.

Also with Magneto inserted in a bus. Have the plugin window open and uncheck the box to deactivate it (bypass). There is a VU meter within this plugin, I make adjustments on the input control of the plugin and the VU shows that I increased the level, although the plugin is bypassed. It doesn't increase the actual level, it just shows that it did on the VU. It seems like that if a plugin is truly "bypassed" then none of the functions in that plugin should alter when you make adjustments (ie my VU meters). I want to have the ability to check and uncheck the bypass function and see what the level differences are with the plugin activated and de-activated and get a comparative measurement on the VU meters for each.

Disappointments:

1. The inserts on the busses are still Post-Fader. This is not an "insert", it is a "Postsert". Let's give the option to have these post or pre fader. Now we have to listen to an outpouring of whining from a certain individual on this forum, until the next update.

2. Insert button functunality color. The Vegas mixer section is modeled after a hardware mixer correct? On an SSL console I can insert an effect into a channel (via patchbay), and when I push an "insert" button, a light luminates and shows that the insert is active within the channel. On every console ever made with an eq and comp in the channel, if I enable the EQ or Compressor, a light luminates showing that they are enabled. NO light luminates when all 3 of these items are within the channel path and NOT activated (ie bypassed). I think this should be correctly modeled on ALL of Sonic Foundry's software. Currently ACID, Sound Forge, and Vegas are all modeled incorrectly. I put EQ's and compressors on every channel strip, just like a mixing console and they are inactive until I decide I need them. Currently just having them in the channel, illuminates the light. I should be able to glance at the mixing console and be able to tell what channels I have an EQ active. I can't with the current SF modeling.
Please either deactivate the light when the plugin is not active or make it change to another color (ie red) when the box is checked, showing it is enabled.

Why do you need meters? Professionals dont use meters. Meters are a "want " not a " need "

sheesh, next thing you know, you'll want an app that removes vocals from a cd

I already have a vocal remover, go read the Sound Forge forum and get caught up with the rest of us. Actually, next you'll hear me whinning about needing ASIO and direct input monitoring although I have a mixing board at my disposal, which allows me to already accomplish this same thing. But I rather have Sonic Foundry waste resources in this developement rather than working on something more useful like external hardware control. But hey, I guess if I just ask for everything the developer Gods will come down from heaven and grant my every wish. Then I suppose everyone shouldn't be so surprised to hear me whinning after I get my wish and Vegas is the most slugish responsive program and brings my P4 to a screaching halt when I hit play?

Yeah a mixing board ( which I have, for the millionth time) REALLY accomplishes the same thing as auto input.

Gee thats funny, your console has a " track arm " button on it?

really ?

I dont know if you are really as ignorant as you act or if you're just a troll. Joe D (who HELPS people) has you dead to rites
