I thought I got something in the mail from Sonicfoundry about a 4.0 Vegas book by eNovel. I can find the 3.0 book but do you know where I can find the 4.0 book? I am pretty sure I got something in the mail about it.
The eNovel books are just B/W printouts of the PDF files that come on the Vegas disc, and can also be downloaded for free. I bought the Vegas 3 eNovel book, but I will be printing out the Vegas 4 manual in color on my inkjet printer. Unfortunately the illustrations and figures in the Vegas 4 manual are considerably smaller than in the Vegas 3 manual. That gives fewer pages in the manual, but the Figures aren't as easy to see.
I think Sonicfoundry missed the boat by making the print and pictures smaller. I stopped down loading the V4 book. Will wait for DSE book to come out in April, hope it is in larger print, darn bifocals.
There may be a rare exception or two, but overall, we didn't change the size of the images or text in the Vegas 4.0 manual, and the page count actually went up from version 3.0 to 4.0.
Is it possible that the zoom level in Acrobat Reader is set lower than you're accustomed to? If you zoom in, the images and text become more readable online. Please give that a try and see if it resolves your viewing issues.
"...and the page count actually went up from version 3.0 to 4.0."
My Vegas 3 PDF has 363 pages. My downloaded Vegas 4 PDF has only 314 pages. Perhaps the shipping version of the Vegas 4 PDF has more than 363 pages, but that will make it considerably bigger than the 314-page version that I downloaded. Since I just now ordered Vegas 4+DVD, I will wait and see what comes on the CDROM in the box before I print out any more pages.
"Is it possible that the zoom level in Acrobat Reader is set lower than you're accustomed to?"
The shipped Vegas 4 Manual only has 314 pages. is this right? I just want to check because I am spending the money on printing it out tonight at office depot.
I apologize. I assumed you were working with the latest version of the version 3.0 manual (available on sonicfoundry.com), which has 294 pages. That's what I was referring to when I said the manual's page count went up from version 3.0 to version 4.0.
"I was comparing printed pages."
Although there may be a few images that were reduced in size when they were updated and reinserted for version 4.0, that wasn't the case throughout the entire manual. The layout for each image and page is adjusted individually, and there may have been some cases where a size adjustment was made, but that decision wasn't made to reduce the page count. We'll review the images for the next update and make adjustments as necessary. If you have specific images you find difficult to read and you'd like to post that information, we'll be sure to take a look at them.
