Vegas 4.0b lockups and glitch

System: P4 2.8gigHz, 1 gig ram, MOTU 2408 Mk3, Radeon 7000 Radeon VE video card, 2 drives, 1 for applications and 1 for wave storage both 7200rpm IDE.

1. Vegas locks up or more exactly goes into ultra slow mode every couple days. I'm doing audio projects only, 16 bit, 44.1kHz. Buy "slow mode" I mean the cursor gets very slugish and to do anything task takes several minutes (essentialy locked up). I have found when this happens that if I can a least click save and wait for it to be accomplish and then exit (both taking a couple minutes) I can relaunch Vegas and everything is ok for another day or two. EXTRA INFO: I have yet to discover what action if any triggers this problem. I have only done one Windows tweak, turning off Windows Messenger. There is no error message associated with the lock up.

2. Sometimes pasting a shorter event over the top of a larger event (replace a bad note with a correct one type of thing) causes the section after the past to be silent for a few seconds. The only way to get it to play with the paste in place is to split the larger event right after the pasted event.

3. Somewhat related to 2. above. Sessions created in my old Vegas Audio when brought into Vegas 4.0 sometimes have events after a paste as above play out of time or with snaps and clicks in the audio. The fix like above is to split the event after the past and everything plays back fine.

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you, mcm

Arnar, I've used SF, CDA and Vegas for years. Don't get me wrong I totally love the new programs (I updated every thing with the new computer). The lock up is no more often than I had in Vegas Audio and I'm thinking the paste problem may have something to do with projects that were started on Vegas Audio then brough into V4. I concider these just fine tuning bugs probably to do more with XP and my graphics card. Recording is my full time gig and these programs are my livelihood. I'm actually blown away at how simple it has been to get the new system up and running compared to months of tweaking the old system required. mcm
