Vegas 4 Drops Frames Now

Dig wrote on 9/12/2003, 5:17 PM
I have vegas 4 and have captured plenty of tapes with it, no problem. I have a win2k with separate capture drives, 512 mb ram, no ieee conflicts.

I can actuate my camera in the play mode and it runs and previews fine as soon as I hit capture it drops frames like crazy. As I said wasn't doing that before.

What have I changed, only sanity for insanity, nothing else.

Any ideas???

Thanks

Before pointing to Vegas, check out your firewire card. Just to condense what I said in an earlier thread I recently built a new system that had firewire built into the MB. Worked fine inbound, would drop frames like cazy trying to go outbound. Replaced with my tried and ture SIIG firewire card, all well again.

In my case both the OHCI card and Firewire cable are about a month old and work fine with VV3.
Any help with my problem would be welcome, cos I'm back to using VV3 until it is solved.

I assume you reinstalled and all that good stuff.

Thanks for the reply. I understand what you are saying but the only difference in my situation is that it was working fine. I had captured several tapes with absolutely no problems.

Suddenly it can't capture 10secs without dropping 50 frames yet I can preview the tape in the camera with Vegas fine, only when I hit capture.

Strange very strange. I think I am going to start fresh with a new drive and install XP Pro that I just picked up.

Thanks

Nothing changed in version 4 that would cause this massive dropped frames problem.

Are you capturing to the same drive as with Vegas 3?
Have any new capture devices or drivers been loaded?
