I re-installed vegas 5 on my laptop and everything worked fine until I installed the update vegas update from the website. When I launch vegas, the program just hangs and doesn't load, Any ideas on

A. How to undo the update that I just installed
or
B. Why the program just hangs after the update and or how to run vegas with the update?

Thanks

Why not just install the latest version from nothing rather than trying to update?

Uninstall and then just install 5.0d from the above link. You don't need to install from the CD first. I know they are labelled updates but that means updated full stand alone installs not a patch. The newer ones will do either but with an old version I'd just do a clean install of the update.

I did the following, I've unistalled the previous version and downloaded and installed the update from the link. For the first week the program worked fine. Now the problem still persists when you launch the program the vegas logo splash screen hangs forever and the program doesn't load. I'm using this program on a Vista platform, does that make a difference? Please advise further.

Vegas 5 was not meant to be used with Vista. Vista support came with Vegas 7.

An upgrade to at least V7 oder V8 or using V5 on XP should help.

Is there a patch or fix that will allow Vegas 5.0 to work on the Vista platform? I have vegas 7.0 and it slows down my laptop.

As well not to sure why 5.0 would work properly for a few weeks then all of the sudden not load.

Just a thought here, but if your laptop has trouble with Vegas 7 then it's probably not even close to powerful enough to be running Vista. Seems like you'd be better off all around with XP instead.

Look here http://download.sonycreativesoftware.com/archive/vegas/ for previous Vegas 5 releases.
