Vegas 5.0a startup problem

xaldub wrote on 5/18/2004, 2:02 PM
I have just bought Vegas5+DVD Architect, but can't get the application to initialise. I keep getting an error that there is a problem with the vegas50.exe.
I haven't installed any plug-ins or anything else yet to complicate matters.

As far as I'm aware I have all the necessary specifications eg Microsoft.Net 1.1 etc.

Anyone else had this problem ....or any ideas as to what is going wrong ?

Have you tried re-instaling it?
Just a suggestion as it does seem strange...most/all don't experience problems launching the programme..(well, at least not on the first instance...)

As an afterthought, and I may be stating something "obvious", you are working on either windows 2000 or XP right? (these are the two whcih Vegas 5 will work on...)

Regards

Paul.

I've tried reinstalling it several times. And yes I have Windows XP, Microsoft.Net 1.1 , Quicktime etc ...and everything else that's needed as a minimum specification.

Some have suggested that this program has to be installed in the previous root directory that Vegas 4 was/is in. Thing is ....I've never even had Vegas 4 on this PC.

I just don't know what to do ..and support hasn't got back to me yet.

For future reference I've discovered the problem here. It's an incompatibility between a Hauppage WinTVPCR card and Vegas. The fix is to edit the registry switching off SoloCap.

Read about it here if you have the same problem ( or interest ... )
