Vegas 5 and IMX?

I'm not that familiar with IMX but it looks like it'll be the way forward for Sony as it replaces SX. Now Sony have decks with firewire the question is can I capture IMX without downconversion via 1394 and edit it in Vegas 5?
Or would that threaten XPRI sales?

This is IMHO the MOST significant feature of V5 from the little SPOT has said about it. Not that too many of us are ever going to get anywhere near a XPRI system BUT it does indicate that Sony take Vegas VERY seriously.
I'd love to know more about this, SPOT please elaborate.

I think you're right about the XPRI sales. IMX is being targeted (even more so than SX) as "the" replacement for BetaSP. And with the introduction of their XDCAM with optical drive, it looks like they may have finally found it. Time will tell on both points though and I stand to be corrected.
