Vegas 5 and Waves bug - mouse pointer vanishing

Ben  wrote on 5/10/2004, 5:15 PM
I have Waves Native Gold 4.0 installed. When changing Waves plugin parameters with the mouse, whilst pressing CTRL-space (play whatever the focus) at the same time, the mouse pointer disappears. The mouse only disappears within Vegas - not other apps - and I have to shut down Vegas with keystrokes to get the mouse back again. This is obviously very irritating! I don't get the same problem in Sound Forge 7. Bizarrely, I remember having the same problem with an early build of Vegas 4, but at some point it seemed to have been rectified.

Is this specific to my system or is anyone else having this problem? I'd really appreciate it if some of you would try to repro. If it's relavant, I'm using a Logitech Wireless Optical mouse and also have a Shuttle Pro installed. The same problem happens when using the CTRL-space shortcut assigned to a Shuttle Pro key.

Thanks
Ben

I don't have the Gold, but I can't repro the problem with my Renaissance plugs. I have the same mouse, but no shuttle.

Actually - NO, I take that back!

When the mouse button is engaged with the Waves plugs, the mouse always disappears for as long as the button is held down. Then when you use CTL+Space to start playback, it apparently gets stuck that way.

The first time I tried it the button was not engaged when starting playback and it worked fine.

Ok, thanks. Well that's good (or I suppose bad?!) that we've got a repro. It's a very irritating bug. Anyone else?

So can I just make sure that noone else is experiencing this? I'm having major hassles with this mouse vanishing problem - it's making tweaking FX and mixing a complete nightmare. May have to revert to Vegas 4. Please could some other people with Waves plugins try and repro the problem I mentioned above.

Additionally - I think mentioned by someone in another thread - I'm having the issue of every time I hit play, the plugin window that's open redraws and refreshes - effectively disappearing and reappearing each time. Something is seriously wrong here. Particulary noticable on Waves plugs, as I guess they're more graphics intensive, but also happens on the Sony plugs. Slow's tweaking FX down, and is a little freaky. Again, anyone else?

Thanks

Ben,

I've repro'd both of your issues...the mouse does disappear, but it seems to still be there as a ghost...if you move the mouse around, you can see buttons highlighting and popups still show.

The plugin refresh thing is happening, but I don't see how that would affect my work, as the refresh is happening really fast.

Thanks LooneyTunez . It's weird that more people aren't narked off about this. The mouse thing is most annoying - a real show stopper. The refresh thing bugs me, it feels like I'm blinking heavily everytime I hit play with a Waves plug open...!

Does anyone know the email address to report bugs to? I really hope Sony looks at this. I do find it strange that this problem was in early builds of Vegas 4 but seems to have reared it's ugly head again.

Yes, we do reproduce this issue and are looking into a solution for the 5.0b update.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
