Don't you find it really quite imporessive that "Sony" allowed us to do this?

Actually yes. I think it was a smart move, but I'm still sort of surprised (and glad) they let you do it! ;D Before you guys came up with the idea - NAB was of zero interest to me. Just some shmooze fest that I wasn't going to. But the idea of seeing the best bit, while sitting on my butt? Can't beat that! Thanks again... Sony and everyone who made it happen. (Finally getting used to it... no more SonyFo heheh...)

Jay,
The upgrade for me, personally, is a no-brainer and will shortly.

Congratulations a great job under what must have been less than ideal conditions.

I downloaded both and have watched both a few times. I worked alongside Gary with DVDA2 and learned a great deal.

You mentioned on the SoCal board that the files used in both classes are on the SONY site, but I haven't been able to find either one.

Would you be so kind as to post the link. I am sure everyone will find them very useful.

Again, well done! Hope SONY appreciates you.

Cheers,
Tom

Tom,

Someone Posted that the files were available on the Sony Site - but, I can't find them either. Can someone who knows, point them out - if they are there.

Thanks,

Jay Mitchell

I was on the fence on the upgrade as V4 meets my needs beautifully.

I viewed V5 and DVDA2 downloads in their entirety and I am convinced and WILL make the upgrade.

I think it illustrates a basic principle. Demo demo demo. Demo or die. It seems like a no brainer that Sony would benefit greatly by giving Gary and the training gang significant support and hosting for more of this. If your demo guys can reach around the world in a few hours that's got to lead to a lot of product sold at little incremental marketing cost.

Jay,

This was a great idea well-executed! Thanks for your efforts and Sony's support. Maybe there is a way we can continue this through the SCVUG meetings. I think some of the member demos at past meetings would have been of interest to many Vegas users who can't attend, and it would be useful to be able to refer back to them even for those of us who were there. So maybe we should tape those portions of our future meetings and stream them? Now that I've proposed MORE work for you guys, I would be happy to help.

I was pleased to be able to see the seminars (though I have to say I thought Gary Rebholz did a very poor job, particularly with Vegas). They wouldn't influence my decisions but I've passed them on to a couple of people who I think would be encouraged.

On a technical level, it would have been useful if you'd saved markers to the Windows Media files so that one could go directly to particular sections.

I watched the streams before I upgraded and after seeing what DVD Architect 2 could do there was no doubt in my mind that this upgrade was "required". To be honest, I was going to upgrade based on what I had seen of the Vegas 5 trial but the streams were very helpful in selling the new features. If I wasn’t convinced to upgrade before watching them, I’m sure I would have been convinced after seeing them. They only got me more excited.

Actually, I was on a business trip last week and after seeing the DVDA2 stream, I couldn’t wait to get back home to order so I called my wife and had her read me my DVDA1 serial number over the phone so I could make the purchase online from my hotel room. I’m glad I did because I just got home yesterday and my Vegas+DVD is scheduled to be here tomorrow!

Thanks for all the hard work you put into making this happen. It is very much appreciated. In particular:

Thank You Jay Mitchell
Thank You Liam Kennedy
Thank You Matt Reason
Thank You Ronald Rennie
Thank You Scott Carpenter
Thank You Gary Rebholz
Thank You SONY!

You guys exemplify what the Vegas community is all about: Going that extra mile to help each other be better videographers. Thank you again,

~jr

Good idea. We didn't have the time to go through the timeline in that much detail. We'll do it next time.

Jay,
Thanks for your efforts in trying to locate the files. Since you, Liam et al know the folks at SONY, perhaps an email to Gary R could get these files posted to their 'Freebies' download site.

Just a thought.

Cheers,
Tom

First thanks to you Jay & Liam, Matt, Ronald & Scott.

What better way to learn about something new than someone showing you -- Yes the videos were great. I will also upgrade. And as a silly side note, I learned some useful keystrokes/shortcuts that just happened to be in 4.0 all along -- never new they were there!

I started using the new shortcuts that very day. I'd say that was cool.

Thanks again,
Fred

It was great !

I didn't know if I was to purchase the upgrade, I had downloaded the demo, tried several veg 5 files from Sundance site, but wasn't totally convinced. So I downloaded your Vegas 5 and DVD2 seminars. I watch the entire Vegas 5 seminar, and believe it or not, that convinced me about buying the upgrade. So many new features that I will be using everyday. More creative power.

I still have to watch the DVDA2 seminar, but at this point, it's clear that I will be buying the upgrade this week.

Thanks to you guys for the videos and thanks to Sony for this great update!

We work in a video world, so it's great to see it and hear it !

The beauty is we fuel each other. After seeing the videos I got a bunch of ideas and submitted 3 new veggie files from my hotel room to the Sundance site showing off some of the new features. So you inspired me! That’s what’s so great about this community. We play off of each other’s strengths and together we all benefit. I am proud to be a member of this community and, like you, I try and contribute in any way I can. Damn, it’s like a brotherhood. ;-)

Like some many others living across the pond, I very often feel I miss out on interesting events and opportunities to learn from live exposure (so to speak...). The two videos have been of incredible value to me (ok, ok, so I had upgraded before watching them, but they certainly revealed the extra value the upgrade provides, particulalry with DVDA in my case).

Sooo, a huge thank you to everyone who went out of their way to put this together for us who can't make it to these kind of events. I personally, as many others, really appreciate it.

Thank you, thank you, GRACIAS!

Paul.

Yes Jay, they were very helpful and useful. They helped in my decision to upgrade.
