I sure agree with your sentiments. I HATE the new interface colors scheme and think its the antithesis of what a professional app should look like much less how it makes the entire editing process a huge, frustrating PITA! I hope they fired whoever created this "mattell its swell" BS! If ever there was time when the phrase "what were they thinking" applied, this has to be it. Everytime I open Vegas 3 its like the entire screen comes alive with detail and professionalism and it reminds me that we can get used to just about anything, no matter how crappy or stupid it is. Oh well, my morning rant's over. . . ;-(

It might not help, but you can adjust the color and tint saturation in the Prefs.
I've actually gotten used to the new interface, and besides I'm really focusing on how it sounds. :)

The physical layout is more or less identical between Vegas 3, 4, & 5. The cosmetic changes didn't move things around to different places, so most of the controls are still right where you are used to clicking ... unless YOU moved them to different places. After about 5 minutes of looking at the new interface i didn't even notice it anymore. I have some computers running Vegas 4 and some running Vegas 5 and i switch back and forth between them without even noticing any UI differences. *shrug* Try it; you'll get used to it a lot faster than you think.

This is really a question of taste. I love the new interface and no clients complained about it... If you're good at what you do, the interface should not influence your clients...

I've done all the adjustments possible to make the UI sharper and clearer, more on the lines of Vegas 3 but V3 remains much easier for me to do long, tedious editing sessions. I experience more eye strain and therefore more fatigue with V5 precisely because of this. Getting "used to it" doesn't eliminate this. I didn't make any comment about clients liking it or not so I don't know where you're coming from with that statement. And yes its a clearly a matter of taste – I'd personally prefer that the UI look less like a toy and cause less eye strain when doing detailed editing. Its that simple.

I prefer the conciceness of the sharpness and contrast of pre-5. I resent the concept of having to piss around for hours to even approach that look.

"Look" is half of "look and feel". Does the feel go next ?

The old look was better. But none of my clients has ever mentioned that 5 looks like a toy, but then again they are not pros. If they were, they wouldn't darken my door. Most clients are amazed at what I can do with this toy. I tell them I invented it!

I just found you can change the color and tint value of all icons and such, so at least there is some option there... I personally like it better at lower/darker settings, looks alot less childish..
