"There will be no fix for Vegas 4."

- Way to go Sony! That's what I call good support! - Not.

So if I correctly understand your sarcasm here, you believe that Sony (and other software developers) should continue allocating resources into fixing older versions of an existing product? In this case working on a fix for Vegas 4 instead of apply all energies into Vegas 5? If this is true, please provide us with an example of any company of any sort who has done this and has managed to stay in business (while you're search for an example, remember to compare apples to apples).

Thanks,

...Well there’s Microsoft but they are in a whole different ballpark...

Outside of that, I totally agree...an extremely lame criticism.

Yes exactly. Nowhere near a good comparison. When 3/4 of the world uses your OS, you do need to support some older versions and of course, MS has the resources to do it.

An example: Soundscape.
The software is free on updates as long as you got the hardware.
But I guess it's not apple enough for you?

We bought Vegas at v4 and spent almost 5000SEK for it.
I expect to have some kind of bug fix support on the software, not be forced to buy the next version every time, and be forced to change OS.
We don't want v5. Too many other stupidities that needs fixing.
But you will run off and buy v6 of course... and MAYBE the bugs in v3/4/5 will be fixed... maybe....

Mmmmm. . . interesting comparison in light of the fact that Sony doesn't have a hardware based system. Mr Phil: Your comments really beg the question: why do you even bother with Vegas or Sony at all for that matter? Is there ANYTHING about this software that you like or do you just enjoy coming on the forum and pointing out what you perceive as faults?

Actually no reply is necessary – a review of your previous posts, especially of late, answer the question pretty well.

Hey DrBam!
As I thought, you wouldn't accept the comparison. And of course there's a difference when hardware is included in what you buy - the pricing and performance for one. But the SS software isn't limited to one hardware alone. It stretches from inboard DSP soundcards to outboard DAW systems, so comparing it to the hardware Sony provides on the VIDEO side that is recommended to use with Vegas is actually not that far fetched. There just isn't any on the audio side. Anyhow, the SS example was the first to spring into my mind as I'm familiar with it.
Another comparison would be this:
11|30|2004 New Samplitude/Sequoia Patch 7.23 This is while v8 is coming up.
If you think letting go of problems (yes problems, I'm not asking for new features for v4, I'm asking for problem fixes) in a not so old prior version of a program, to release a new version that demands another OS to work is a good customer support... then I don't agree. And guess what: I don't have to. I don't have to like everything Sony make or decide. I paid for my product and owe them nothing. It's actually one of my rights to point out what I perceive as faults.
I "bother" with Vegas cause I can't afford a bigger SS unit - at least not yet.
(I actually saw RME cards being a possible solution for going Vegas only, but not anymore)
I like it cause I find it very easy to set up a mix and it's fast and easy to get the right levels between different instruments. I don't like the fact that there is a problem with one of the markets most used and well renomated sound cards, RME, and the fact that Sony doesn't give a damn about it regarding customers buying v4 not so long ago. Instead they think I should add $200 and change OS to fix a bug.
I looked into Vegas as I have used SoundForge for many years and find SF an extremely good tool for sound.

You may not like that I don't hold everything Sony does or say for number one, but actually my friend, neither do you:
" the mode/selection display is very poorly designed IMO. Its often hard to tell which mode is selected or engaged and I see this as part of the overall cheesy color scheme that emerged with Vegas 5. It looks like it was created by a designer for the powder puff collection or something similar."
