VEGAS 5 to 7

I recently purchased Vegas 7 and I am ready to install it on my computer. I have 2 questions:

1. Should I completely unistall 5 and then install 7, similarly uninstall previous version of DVDA?

2. Can I open my projects that created in Vegas 5 in Vegas 7 without any problems?

#1. You can but it's not necessary. as the two will co-exist peacefully. At one time, I had Vegas 3 through 7 and DVDA 1 through 4 on my system with no problems.

#2. You can - but make sure to save it immediately as a new name just in case you want to keep Vegas 5 on your system.

1. Doesn't matter much. If you install V7 and DVDA4 without first uninstalling older versions, the new ones will simply install right along side them in new folders. The old installations will be untouched. Some people like to hang onto an old version when they switch up in case of any accidents. Note that when you uninstall V5 then, there is a chance that it will remove some files needed by V7 (because there are some files that all instances of Sony software "share"). So if you find later that some plug-ins appear to be missing, just re-install V7.

2. Yes, you can open V5 projects in V7. You should then save it as a new file. You cannot open a V7 file in V5, so you may want to hang onto the V5 version(s) of your projects in case you need to go back to using V5 for some reason.

I recently upgraded from 5 to 7. In addition to the above, I noticed that any V5 project opened in V7 and then saved as "save as", when the original project was reopened in V5, it needed to rebuild all my peaks. I have projects with 300 clips. Now that was fun!
