You could think of nested timelines like this ... you know what takes are. Imagine if instead of a choice of other clips, you could choose an entire project file to sit "inside" an event. When the cursor gets to that event it will play whatever is in that project's .veg file. This way you can easily drop other projects inside a larger one.

I agree that nested timelines (or whatever feature would allow you to "incorporate other projects") would be a great feature. I'd also like to see quite jump in features in DVDA. Don't get me wrong - I'm anxious, too.I'm just hoping that they continue to improve on Vegas, as opposed to the "watering down" that's happening to Acid.

Vegas 4 is so packed with goodness that I can only think of one thing I'd like to see, being in the middle of work on a feature length DV film: EDLs that are readable by a wide variety of Avid-based and even Final Cut-based systems, both hardware and software.

Thanks Carson... I missed those. Sometimes I don't really really deep into a new thread if I'm not sure it something of interest to me. Thanks for pointing me to these.

I would like to see DVDA 2.0 with a bargain price upgrade not tied to a package deal with Vegas 5.0 as a way of making up for the premature release of DVDA 1.0 last time.

If and WHEN Vegas 5 comes out..... Please ohh Please still give Windows 98se users a chance. I am still new to Vegas 4 and I Love it! Great Program! AND I love the fact that it still supports us Windows 98se users. I am not happy with the latest trend of NOT supporting Windows 98se users. I have only seen a handful of games listed as Windows 2000 & XP only. 95% are compatible with Windows98se and above. Not to get off the subject or anything.. :-)

Dude that operating system is like so 5 years ago...

True. But it is very very stable.... Why upgrade when everything works fine? I still use DOS for those Old games you can't play on the newer PC's. My 486dx PC works just fine. Still Y2K compatible and everything.... But that was not the point. The point being, Why stop supporting Windows 98se if there are plenty of users? If they do stop supporting windows 98se users, which I hope they wont. If they do, I'm sticking with what I have. Then maybe I'll update way later.

I was just pointing out that I would like to see Windows 98se support still. That is all. Thanks.

CERTEGY : I just hope they still support XP the way things are going. XP is Microsoft's answer for supporting video editing---Hyperthreading, SATA, NTFS, ETC. Win2K is even getting the boot. (no hyperthreading or SATA support) Also the activation thing is how Bill wants to go from 46 billion to
100 billion. But you can't have everything. With 64 bit around the corner XP will be dog crap pretty soon. 98 will be taught in history classes.

I guess when that day comes, I will eventually have to upgrade. Things for now work and they work great for me! I know this debate has gone on in other threads about Windows versions. For me, for now Windows 98se is working like it should. As long as I can make CD's,DVD's etc I should be fine.

CERTIGY

I noticed you jumped into the same topic discussion over in the Soundforge Forums when SF 7.0 came out.

I would venture a guess that Vegas 5.0 would most likely folllow the same suit - Win 2000 and XP only.

C'mon, Certegy! I wish I could find parts for my 37' International Harvester 6 door truck too. I'd like to get it running but can't without scabbing parts from non-IH vehicles. Microsoft doesn't support Win98, no manufacturers are still interested in supporting it, it's a dinosaur. I've got a BUNCH of gear left over that won't run on 2K or XP. I'll sell you a WONDERFUL SeaSound I/O box that won't work on anything EXCEPT XP. Great box, totally useless. Buf if you want to stay stuck in the computer juraissic period, I'll help you refit with all this gear. I've also got a Timepiece II I'd love to dump. No drivers for it, either. XP and beyond are the future of all this, and XP only has another year or so anyway....

The only thing I find sucks about Win2k and XP is the price: They cost the same amount of $$$!

I have a feeling that whe nthe next version of Windows comes out, all 3 will be a simular price (~$250 for full new "pro" versions, $150 for updates). That's the only reason i've not upgradeed to XP yet (have 2k).

Come to think of it, "brand new" 95, 98, and Me retail a little lower the that. :)
