Vegas 5b suggestion... (Select In Timeline)

Just like Select In Media Pool (now) snaps to the media in the pool, it would be VERY helpful if, in the media pool, if you Select In Timeline, it would snap to the portion of the timeline that contains the media.

One behavior would then be consistent with the other.

It would also be extremely helpful.

It's hard, depending on the # of clips, trying to see where on the timeline the media has been selected without the desired snap-to behavior.

What happens if you use the same media twice in a project (eg copy and paste one event to another location)? Which event does the trimmer point to?

How 'bout it working just like the Find command in a text editor or browser. Start from where the "cursor" is and go forward. Wrap if you reach the end. Have a "Find" and "Find Next" command.

Excellent suggestion (the find feature). I know I've heard of this in other editing software...

BUT in a pinch you can accomplish this already with the Edit Details | Events window. Just sort the edit details by either "Active Take Name" or "File Path" depending on how you want to find your media.

It might be a bit much to ask for new features in a minor rev but you should put it in for the next rev now. A lot of this stuff has to be planned and budgeted for well in advance.

For a minor rev I predict we'll see bug fixes and enhancements for which the code wasn't quite ready at release time. For instance, Decklink support is strongly rumored to be incuded in the next minor rev because it was almost ready.

I had a second post in here but I guess it got lost in the ether.

It's a good idea. I'd suggest a dialog box that searches for whatever object you've got selected and offers you a choice of where to search. And also offers to let you "find next"

Put that suggestion into the form now and you'll see it in a year. Don't expect it for a minor rev though. I think if it isn't a bug fix or code that's almost ready anyway, you probably won't see it.
