Vegas 5d Trail won't start

I just downloaded the Trail version of Vegas 5

I installed and registered it.

Just before going into the program, after the splash screen goes away, it gives me an error message:

An error has occurred starting Vegas

The System is low on memory, You may be able to reduce memory usage by closing other applications.

Vegas only requires 128 MB of ram, but I have 1GB.

What the hell is wrong???!

Without knowing the details of your system, it is difficult to say. But stick with this forum, if it can be fixed someone here will know and will help.

It sounds like you may not have enough free ram. Just because you have a gig, doesn't mean you automatically have enough free. What else is running? What version of Windows? Usually typing ctrl-alt-delete brings up the task manager, it will tell you the processes that are running and how much cpu and ram is being used.

The general answer is to find applications or processes that you know you can close and close them , then retry launching Vegas.

My PC should be able to run Vegas without any problems.

At any one time my PC has atleast 400 megs of free ram, thats when I'am multitasking, when I tried to run Vegas earlier I had 900 megs.

Also I tried the program on 2 other PC's each with diffirent specs, but still well above the requirements of Vegas and it gives me the EXACT same message.

Have you tried contacting tech support?

Ken Calhoun had the same problem at one point, his may have stemmed from either Systemworks or a tweak in FireFox:

yes, I just used one of my ghosted drives that didn't have the norton systemworks and latest goback installed.

Also though, one thing that might've done it is, I had allocated a lot of memory to firefox via a tweak, that may have caused it (though I wasn't running firefox when the error message appeared) ..

ghost in the machine .. at least it's all working now.. I am back to my old version of goback + norton a/v

I tried several times to start Vegas with all the unnecessary background applications closed (during which XP only uses 98mb of ram). But, still no luck.

I contacted Technical Support with this problem, maybe they can figure something out.
