I asked this question some time ago when I purchased a MOTU firewire interface, the MOTU 828mkII. At the time, SonyPCH responded with an answer that included the line "vegas 5.0 does not support ASIO2". Well, now I repose the question. The MOTU box has a SMPTE TimeCode input. The only way that host software can see the time code coming in the SMPTe input on the MOTU box is via the ASIO driver. What about now with Vegas 6.0? Is this "ASIO" support ASIO 2? I"m not sure I understand the difference.
The issue I have is when recording to a track whilst locked to external time code. I use an external midi device to convert SMPTE to MTC (midi time code) and it works fine when playing back whilst locked to incoming time code....but not when recording. The resulting recording plays back anywhere from 15-25 frames late.
thx
